Hi I’m David Montelongo; you may have seen me on A&E’s hit reality TV show, “Flip This House.” I was sought out by A&E because one of my private equity lenders knew someone at the production company.  Apparently the production company was looking for a house flipper in Texas and my lender referred me because at the time, I was buying and selling more houses than anyone in the state. On my best month, I purchased 26 properties, however the show was not handed to me, my company was chosen out of 400 other flipping investors. Looking back, I’m sure we were chosen because we ran our investment company like a machine.  Oh yeah, that and my partner at the time was a “train wreck waiting to happen,” and that always makes for good TV.

Well, it was an absolute honor to be featured on such a huge platform, I mean really, who gets to be featured each week on an hour long commercial about what they love to do for a living, and gets paid for it?

I do realize that with great success comes great responsibility, with that being said I am extremely passionate about teaching others to create the success in their lives that I’ve created in mine.

Don’t get me wrong, I have hit some major road blocks along the way; I am equally as passionate about teaching people NOT to make the same mistakes that I’ve made. Although I encourage you to be original with your thought process and find what works for you.  I then know that you must go out and make some mistakes of your own so that you learn what does truly work for you.

I truly believe that without some screw-ups, how can you really know what success feels like. I also believe that there is no such thing as failure as long as you learn a lesson and get better from it! Some of my biggest mistakes have been my most valuable life lessons.

I have been a business owner for the last 12 years; I have had an incredible career in construction and real estate. In less than 3 years I bought and sold over 250 properties including, single-family homes, historic architectural restoration projects, commercial purchases, apartment purchases and have used just about every strategy in the book. By the way, did you know there was a book? Well not yet, but it’s coming very soon! In fact it already has a title.

One of the most fun projects I’ve ever done was purchased an entire city block. The houses were very run down but when I was done, we changed the property values of an entire neighborhood, and put families back into new safe environment.

Now, I specialize in structuring large commercial and bulk real estate transactions across the country by using the same basic skill-set I used when flipping single-family homes and I teach my students to do the same.

I have been able to do all of these things in my business with great success for many reasons and the biggest reason is because my wife Melina.  She has always been very passionate about marketing. In fact she is a “marketing diva.”  Through her journey, I have learned that marketing is one of the two most important elements to ANY business. The other is having a solid product, that’s where I come in. Now, together we have built an incredible brand, Montelongo coaching, and we are helping others to do the absolute same thing.

On a personal note, I love to mountain bike, run, play golf (although I suck at it), lift weights and kayak. The thing I love most is training in the martial arts.  I have studied muy tai, Brazilian jui jitzu, vale tudo, and now I train MMA. The best part about my martial arts training is that now my son and I train at the same gym. Zion is 9, has been training for 3 yrs and is a 1^st degree black belt, needless to say I am very proud of him. When he’s not training, he’s reading! He loves to read, book after book.

My daughter is 5 and is an absolute doll! She says she wants to be a veterinarian and a cheerleader, not sure why the combination?

Melina and I enjoy short day and weekend trips away from the kids when we get a chance. We love eating at fancy restaurants and sharing a bottle of wine over a sunset. Melina is my anchor, my soul mate and my life-long friend; she has stood by me though thick-n-thin
